Nets are spread for mending on the grass and freshly snared eels hang outside. Being so close to the water's edge makes for convenient fishing. The hobbits calling Number 31 Lakeside home are lulled to sleep each night by the gentle lapping of the water just a few feet from their burgundy door. Sorry for the long post.Scattered among the grassy hills of Hobbiton like a purse full of lost coins, the bright round doors of many dozen Hobbit-holes shine in bright, summery hues, each home to a Hobbit or family of the little people.Īs diverse as the rosy-cheeked Hobbits themselves, every smial, as Hobbit-holes are known, reflects the unique personality of its inhabitant and nestles into the hillside amid a sea of lush greenery. I’ll have pictures in the next coming week as the weather improves and enables me to do this piece justice. Absolutely worth every penny Weta asked for it. The fireworks and Glamdring and his Staff all look great as well. I think Frodo is as close to being spot on as they could have made him (in person at least). The grass and mushrooms and the road are crazy real looking. Once everything came together all I can say is What an impressive piece. Took me well over 2 hours as I had to retract and I wanted to be extra careful. would also highly recommend having another person with you. I’ll highly recommend to fully assemble the Cart and the reins / chains that go underneath before you attach it to the actual base it will save you a headache And having to retract and possibly damaging the horse’s straps. At one point the video made me back track and basically lose all the progress I made assembling the cart itself. I used Weta’s video as a guide and honestly it’s a waste of time. It took a bit to get in the groove and take every item (there’s a lot!) out. I was lucky enough not to have any mushrooms or anything at all broken or damaged. The base is HUGE! Literally has its own box. What a statue! You definitely get the impression that this is no “mere” 1/6th. So I finally got around to unbox and assemble GoCart. I highly recommend 2 people for set up of the cart to pony I definitely feel the 2 fixed, looped straps to the rear of the pony should have been made from some other material than resin as they bear the initial weight of the cart which handles you have to slide all the way along before adding the 2 replaceable straps near the end. This was nice but I wish they had better designed that part to avoid it being so delicate at first place.Great summary Weta knew it would happen so they have made a video for the assembly, they've put yellow stickers saying what was about to happen and they added replacement pieces inside the box. The assembly was frustrating, the cart attachment to the horse thing snapped the left strap. I will have nightmares about my 5yo unwrapping each gift. I assembled the thing feeling privileged to own it. This is where people sometimes get lost trying to reach perfection but they gained my respect and admiration. This was nice but I wish they had better designed that part to avoid it being so delicate at first place. Not a big deal since I dont plan on using that anyway. Now to what could have been better thought, the flapping base column extender should have been just a leather wrapped board that covered the whole base. It breathes quality and attention to detail. Chest, sword, staff, figures all incredibly well done, the chest lock is like a real detached lock. Gifts wrapped on real paper and with that real rope i just talked about. Each firework seems like the real deal, the sticks are real wood that gets attached with real rope to the polystone firework so nicely painted. Very well done piece, many details, it captures the moment. One needs to respect a piece in which the base has its own huge box.
